Projects

We sponsor organizing projects that make a difference in local communities while building progressive leadership and democracy and bringing disenfranchised voters to the ballot box. We also incubate new organizations initiated by our endorsed candidates after their campaigns are over to continue activating local communities in their civic engagement. 

Bluejay Rising leads disenfranchised West Virginians to the ballot box. It’s an organization founded by our 2024 endorsed candidate Zach Shrewsbury, who ran for the U.S. Senate in West Virginia, received 36 percent of the vote, and won the southern, forgotten counties. The Flagstaff Living Wage Coalition works to expand labor rights and safeguards progress achieved that benefits workers and their families. The Coalition started its work in 2015 in Flagstaff, Arizona, organizing a citizen initiative that raised the local minimum wage and pegged it to inflation, eliminated the subminimum tipped wage, and established a local labor standards enforcement office. The Coalition's victory is documented in the Economic Mobility Catalog. Today, the coalition helps Flagstaff workers recover stolen wages and watches over the City of Flagstaff's enforcement office to ensure the voter-passed initiative is implemented and enforced as intended. The Flagstaff Economy for the Good project is a citizen-driven initiative to reimagine a new approach to economic development—an approach that is truly from the community for the community, centering the community’s needs and capacity. Unlike conventional economic development, which uses financial transactions as an end goal, economic development that facilitates public good focuses on what is needed for people’s well-being today without compromising their well-being in the future. The project is also supported by Flagstaff College and Friends of Flagstaff's Future.

Add your voice to the Immigrant Safety Ordinance petition, calling on the Flagstaff City Council to prohibit using city resources on immigration enforcement activities and data sharing with federal immigration enforcement.
